Introduction
Troisi Poeta Massimo is the first TV miniseries or biographical film about the artistic and private life of Massimo Troisi. It is a journey through the most significant chapters of his life, enriched with previously unreleased facts, told by Stefano Veneruso (director, screenwriter, and producer), his nephew, assistant director on The Postman Il Postino and author of the film’s backstage documentary.
It is the authentic and faithful story of one of the greatest artists of the 20th century: from his childhood in San Giorgio a Cremano, Naples, to his conflicted relationship with religion and school during the turbulent 1970s; from his “ailing” heart to his boundless love for football, from his relationship with the female universe to his theatrical debut with the historic group La Smorfia, to his consecration on television, and finally to his great international success in cinema, from Ricomincio da tre to Il Postino. The story of a brave and gentle young man who, despite everything, took care of his life and turned it into a masterpiece.
